6:59pm: ok so i wrote this yesterday and forgot to post it.
so today was great even though i am completely exhausted. getting up every morning at 5:30 to drive to syracuse is not a lot of fun but whatever. today though i actually got to teach... to a whole class, all by myself! that was my first time ever teaching a class, not to mention teaching them something that i had planned. they were so excited i let them get a little bit out of hand which was the only critical thing my teacher had to say. she said that i need to be more assertive with the kids, which i knew already but they were having fun so i let them go with it. how exciting. plus i wore the most awesome ( skirt ) today


and i drew this. particularly for my sister, but i thought i'd share because it still makes me laugh.

5:51pm: yay! i just found out our fall concert is something corporate.... usually its some aweful unheard of rapper/ hip hop act. hooray for good music coming to campus!

9:34pm: wow, it's been quite a while since i wrote in here last, quite a bit has happened biggest things being that we got a puppy, a black pug whose name is maiya pancake, i got a new tattoo, a small blue frog, i went snowboarding and got snow poisoning thus causing under my eye to swell and blister all in time for the first week of classes, and i have decided to move off campus next year. i'm sure more has happened but those are the things i can currently think of.

the main reason i decided to write again is that i am really bored. the snow is so bad that they cancelled classes, both last night and all day today. up until about 4 pm today it was completely white out, when i looked out my window it was staring at a piece of paper, kinda like the it's polar bear in a snowstorm joke... anyway the weather report: Snowfall rates of 4 or more inches an hour are likely within the heaviest part of this band. Additional snowfall accumulations of a foot or more can be expected tonight, with another foot or more during the day on friday. Some weakening is expected to take place friday night, but another 4 to 8 inches could accumulate. It is likely that portions of oswego county, where the lake effect snows persist... snowfall totals will exceed 5 feet. i wanted there to be snow, but this is ridiculous. i can't wait to shovel out my car tomorrow, as from the window this afternoon when it cleared for a while i was able to see that i can't see my car because it has been blanketed, yay.
time for dinner.

11:50am: though i made it home in one piece yesterday, unfortunately my car did not. made it to geneseo fine, got carrie and her friend and set off for home. got on the wrong counry route or whatever it was though and had to go 10 miles beofre i thee was an exit to get off... apparently you have to go north to go south. made it onto the thruway and everything was fine until my car started making this really loud noise and shaking like something was dragging from it. luckily there was an exit about a mile or so away and i quickly got off and pulled into a parking lot at some condo place that was right off the exit. look under my car and something is hanging off of it, i had no idea what it was so i called home where no one answered the phone. luckily this guy who lived in the condos pulled in and stopped to see if we needed help, looked under my car and informed me that it was my exhaust, i guess it had decided it would be fun to detach itself from my car. he said it was still drivable, and would just be really loud, and he was nice enough to tie it up with a hanger so that we could continue the over 4 hours we still had to go to get home. so the ride home was extremely fun my car so loud it was hard to hear the radio and freezing from having to keep the windows open a crack to air it out in case the fumes got in... but we made it home, though a little deaf and pretty cold.


i'm excited for friday.

Student charged for toy headdress, arrow in Native American class

OSWEGO, N.Y. -- A 20-year-old college student has been charged with disorderly conduct after he ran into a Native American Studies class wearing a toy headdress and shot a rubber-tipped arrow at the instructor, campus police said.

Michael D. Johnson launched the suction-cup arrow, shouted, "Go back to your own country," and ran out of the classroom at the State University College at Oswego shortly before noon Oct. 31, police and students said.

Johnson, who was arrested Tuesday on a tip, told police he didn't know that teacher Kevin White was an Akwesasne Mohawk.

"He said he wanted to do a Halloween prank consistent with a class," Lt. Michael Taylor told The Post-Standard of Syracuse. "Apparently, (he) first wanted to get a monkey suit and run through an anthropology class, but couldn't find one."

Johnson, an Oswego student from Calverton, Long Island, was charged with the violation instead of a more serious harassment count.

"This didn't appear to be a hate crime," Taylor said Wednesday. "I don't think he realized the reaction it would get."

Johnson could face a fine or up to 15 days in jail. Calls to his dormitory room went unanswered. He's due in Town Court Dec. 2 in Oswego, 35 miles north of Syracuse.

White said education was his main concern. "I hope he's learned a valuable lesson, and that ... he'll think about the larger implications of his actions."

However, several of his students were incensed by the stunt directed at their teacher, an academic planning counselor and Native American recruiter.

"At the level we're at, in college, this isn't something we should have to deal with," Ruth Gleason told the newspaper. She said it also disrupted the concentration of the 85 students taking a test.

White later offered them the option of writing a research paper in place of the test.

8:15pm: so before i begin my wonderful friday night of homework (i see all those jealous glares) i figured i would write in here in hopes it would motivate me to write what i really need to for my assignments.

i've had an intersting past few weeks though probably an even more interesting week since halloween. much fun was had at chris' party, and i made a new friend ;)and not to mention having fun hanging out with katy and nikki that weekend.
got back to school to be overwhelmed with work, failed my archaeology test(i'm sure of it) and came out to my car to have a parking ticket. then today some girl almost hit me in the parking lot because she was looking and completely cut me off. the best part is i dont think she even noticed that our cars were thisclose.
found out at my practicum today that one of the kids got suspended for the week because he almost punched the teacher. i got to go to behavior management with a few of the kids which was interesting... they ended the seesion by going to the gym to hit a punching bag in effort to relieve the anger they have built up inside. its so sad to see these kids who only really know how to express themselves through violence. and i'm really starting to hate their DARE officer, the way he talks to them just really bothers me.
i got to go to tutoring today as well and that was fun as always adn the teacher made my day with all the compliments she gave me before i left. she was dissapointed that there wasn't a place on my time sheet where she could write compliments about me, which amde me feel really good.
and i picked up my refund check today. go me.

9:51am: so i'm about to go start workstudy... tutoring in a 3rd grade class. it's a little bit earlier than i usually wake up but that's alright, especially since now i'll start getting pay checks. yay! and lucky me i get to come back and go to archaeology, i hate that class more than i ever thoguht i would.
i also FINALLY got my practicum placement, it's a magnet school for arts and music in a 5th grade class, in syracuse at 8:30 in the morning. which means i have to leave here by shortly after 7 to drive to a city that i have never been to and do not know my way around. great. hopefully the directions i got off yahoo are accurate or i'm gonna have a problem :/ there goes my fridays off.

4:57pm: i swear to god i saw rekha today. i was walking back to my room and she was walking the other way, we both stared at each other and i'm pretty sure she said something as i was saying hello.... anyone happen to know if it was her that saw and not just some random stranger that i stared at? granted i should be able to recognize her(seeing as how i always find that to be something i'm good at, meeting people and remembering who they are) but i havent seen her in 3 years. very strange.

12:08am: while one of the most depressing things has to be looking at a countdown to my birthday thing...the day AFTER your birthday looking at it and seeing 4 days is quite nice. i'm excited because ryan and kim are having a small party for me, though it can't be on my actual birthday, i'll have to wait until tuesday. plus i've *almost* completely decided that my present to myself will be getting something pierced, or maybe tattooed, but probably pierced.
i'm excited because i'm coming home on friday, my father is going to be in oswego so he's driving home with me but returning to school after this weekend will be my first time driving alone on the thruway... i'm not worried though. it will be good to go home though because everythign here is starting to seem redundant.
i finally hooked up my camera tonight and i cant get it to work completely right but i took some pictures of my room anyway. all the ones of me came out blech, i dont know how katy does it but everytime i try to hold the camera and take pictures of myself it never works out.
i wish i had a big glass of ice water from my house, semi-cold bottled will have to do.
